Pink and Monkeys and Owls…

Yup…pink, monkeys, and owls pretty much explain my little girls’ tastes at the moment. But, hey, if that is what they love, why shouldn’t they be able to be surrounded by it in their own room?

Now for the break down…no I am not going to embarrass myself and do some break dancing…let’s just stick with a little review of how this room came together. Shall we?

The bunk beds were given to Ava and Kyra by Jason’s dad. He actually made them for me when I lived in the dorm in college. They have been working great, but I am hoping he can make them something a little more like this…

You can find more about this bed here
Both bedding sets are from Pottery Barn. Let’s just leave it at one cost a bit more than the other because I was hasty. I should have waited to find it on sale, but, alas, it was too late.

The small table is a garage sale find from this past summer. Refinishing the table top has been on my to-do list for about, oh, 6 months now. Guess I should start thinking about trying to get around to that project. The table, chairs, and fabric for seat cover cost a whopping $12.

The small chair in the corner came from my mom-in-law. She is a garage sale queen and I am sure she found it at an absolute steal.

The stickers mural above the dresser was on clearance at Pier 1. Now that I look back, I wonder if it was marked wrong because it rang up $2. All I can say is that I was shocked. The package had about 50 stickers plus the bird cage! Not a bad deal for $2!

The personalized wall decal beside the closet door was a gift from my mom. It semi-matches the bird decals so it isn’t TOO mis-matchy (new word…you like?) looking.

As soon as I can carve out a significant amount of time, I would also live to refinish that old dresser. Thanksgiving break is coming up fast. Could it be a possibility? I am thinking it could!

Alrighty then! Another room down! Why don’t we just stick to the whole bedroom theme? Right now I am planning on completing just a little more work on our master bedroom. As soon as it is finished, we will be making that the next stop.

FYI, I am looking for a couple of clients to help me start a home decor portfolio. The consultation service will be completely free for 2 people. You do not have to live nearby. We can always work through email and such! If you are interested in seeing how it works, just leave a comment and I can get in touch! More information on this later…

(You will, however, be responsible for purchasing any items you wish to use for your redecorating project.)

Girl Power And Pink Flowers

Okay…You aren’t going to believe it… I am actually going to write a decorating post. It has been ages but when you are moving and temporarily displaced, home decorating ideas aren’t exactly on the mind. As I mentioned earlier, we are currently staying with my in-laws (which has been such a blessing while we figure out our living situation). On a note of GrEaT news (for us at least), our house is currently pending sale! I’ll be sure to keep you updated on that blessing!

So, I decided to give the girls a bit total bedroom makeover. Since they are sharing a room, I wanted to give them a room that was a bit more coordinated. Here is the before…

And here is the after…

Most of the items in the room were, of course, garage sale, free, and thrift store items. The pastel rug is a PBTeen rug that I was able to buy from Craigslist for $50. The table and chairs cost $15 (including fabric to recover the chairs) from a garage sale. The LOVE picture is a DIY project made by decoupaging scrapbook paper onto an old painting canvas. The dresser, chair, bunk beds and wicker side table were given to me by Jason’s step-mom. The sheets for the beds and white throw pillow came from one of our garage sale adventures. My one big splurge was bedding. The lower bunk has bedding that came from Target, but the quilt on the top bunk came from PBTeen and cost “a tad bit” more. However both sets are well-made and should last a while.

The only other ideas I would like to incorporate into their room come from the Googiemomma blog. The striped ceilings and small chandeliers are too perfect!

I’ll wrap up by leaving you guys with a few more pictures! Thanks for stopping by!
